1. Figures Not in Tables
Images must not be placed inside tables. Use proper captions and keep figures outside table cells.
- Open the document and locate images inside any table cell
- Cut the image (Ctrl+X) and paste it on a new line outside the table
- Below the image, type a caption like: “Figure X: Descriptive caption”
- Do not use table borders or cells for figure placement
- Repeat for all images embedded in tables
2. No Horizontal Image Alignment
Avoid placing multiple images side‑by‑side on the same line. Stack images vertically, each with its own caption.
- Find any section with two or more images on the same line
- Press Enter to move the second image to the next line
- Ensure each image has its own caption directly below it
- Align images to center using the toolbar (optional)
- Keep one image per paragraph for clarity
3. No Highlighted Content
Remove all text highlighting and colored backgrounds so the paper has uniform formatting.
- Select highlighted text
- Go to Home → Text Highlight Color → No Color
- If background color was used, remove via Home → Shading → No Color
- Ensure body text is black on white with no highlights
- Save the document after clearing all highlights
4. Equation Formatting and Numbering
Display equations should have visible numbering so they can be referenced.
- Insert the equation on its own line (Use Word’s Equation tool)
- Place the equation number to the right (e.g., “(1)”) using a right‑aligned tab stop
- Use consistent numbering across the paper: (1), (1.1), 2, 2.1, etc.
- Reference equations in text using their numbers (e.g., “as shown in (3)”)
- Keep equations centered and numbers aligned to the right
5. No EMF/WMF Image Formats
Replace EMF/WMF images with PNG or JPEG for compatibility.
- Right‑click the image → Save as Picture
- Choose PNG (for diagrams) or JPEG (for photos) and save
- Delete the original EMF/WMF image from the document
- Insert the saved PNG/JPEG via Insert → Pictures
- Verify images render correctly and at sufficient resolution
6. Document Has Sections
Organize content with proper section headings and optional subsections.
- Create main sections: Introduction, Methodology/Background, Results, Conclusion, References
- Apply Heading 1 style to main section titles (Home → Styles → Heading 1)
- Use Heading 2 for subsections if needed
- Ensure each section contains meaningful content
- Keep consistent formatting for all headings
